Another week, another film shoot

I've been in television advertising nearly twelve years and I've never known a year like this one. I've already had more shoot days than I get in the average year and it's barely April. On the plus side, it means good money (as and when I start to see any of it) but on the down side, my writing is taking a beating. I'm either too busy, too tired or too braindead to write.

I suspect that my day job is soaring thanks to a combination of the tail end of the recession and the uncertainty of the imminent football world cup. While many industries are gearing for peak business during the mad month of the world cup, mine is expecting a virtual shutdown - or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

I'm praying for a quiet winter so I can get some serious down time (aka writing time). There are just so many stories in my head all waiting to be told, and if I don't get to write them all, my head might just explode ...

  1. Hugs, Romy. Sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day. Hope things ease up soon.

  2. Don't know about "sometimes" Suzanne, there just aren't, lol! I'm typing now with one eye on the clock, thinking I need to go to bed or I'll be a wreck tomorrow, but there's just so much to do!!!

I feel your pain, Romy and I hope your predictions are right and you get some down time soon. Least of all because I mean to pick your brain about ad campaigns ;). Being down with the flu has *some* good side effects - I've got new story love!

  3. I don't mean to alarm you, but yes, your head will explode, it's the truth, happens to me all the time : )
I do hope you get down time - it helps to empty it out once in a while.
    Good luck and happy writing!

  4. I know *exactly* what you mean. Some days/weeks are just insanely busy. Others not so much.

I would think after the World Cup things will calm down for you. Everyone will want a new ad out for such a phenomenal event. Then again, don't listen to me. I know nothing about the ad business or the economy :-)

But, seriously, I hope you get some writing time soon.

And I know what you're saying about not having the time to work on your writing. I hope things ease up for you soon!

  7. I hope everything settles back down for you soon :) I'm struggling along side you. It's sleep vs writing at the moment :)
